Name:
Catiline Lucretia Sergius

Age:
29

Personality, Past, and Motivation:
Catiline was the first-born son of a wealthy, but idle Italian family.  Anyone he was related to and everyone he knew prided themselves on their luxury and freedom.  Because of this, growing up, he was taught no particular trade... he coasted through school, an image of the matchless grace with which all his family members lived their everyday lives.
Though clearly keenly intelligent, this quality was not specially recognized by his parents... in their eyes, thenumber one marketable skill he could hope to attain was propriety - to put on a polite and classy apeparance, make friends in high places, marry a rich girl, and perpetuate the family legacy of nobility in name, not in action.
For years, he accepted this path to his eventual fate willingly... after all, it was easy.  He had everything he needed and desired nothing more (though if he ever did, it could be instantly provided for him).  He was quiet, mild... not quite shy... but he kept his nose out of trouble, and upheld the respectable image his parents so desired in a son.  Then his brother was born.
Their parents, allready possessing the son they desired, cared very little what happened to their second-born... for years they practically turned a blind eye.  Catiline, who was enough sheltered and reserved to have few friends to spend his time with, was endeared to his sibling immediately, and, though not yet openly in opposition to his parents' treatment of Laeca, was silently apalled by their lack of interest.  From when his brother was very young, he took it upon himself to personally care for him, look out for him, and see to it that Laeca grew up with the same joys and opportunities that he had.  Laeca, however, had different ideas.
Likewise friendless, and finding no adequate method of releasing an abundance of physical energy, he tended to ignore his studies for more... active pursuits.  Though by no means unintelligent, he was nevertheless far less academically oriented than Catiline... who had no idea why his sibling's tastes were so completely alien to his own.  Though not supportive of Laeca's more destructive habits, he was not as quick to label them as their parents were.  After all... he himself had nurtured the boy in his childhood, and he knew that at the core was a good person... though why the shell so vastly differed from that image puzzled him to no end - a problem his fine mind could never quite solve.
But, no matter what Laeca did, his love endured... Catiline often took to following him whenever he thought he was sneaking out unseen, overseeing what he did, neither interfering nor turning him in for any of it, remaining passive... as always.  He didn't even scold Laeca for these deeds after the fact... but he didn't defend him from their parents either... until they disowned him.  Absolutely forbidden from living in their house and claiming any connection to them whatsoever, Laeca was turned out on his own without a moment's hesitation from their parents.
At that time, something hidden snapped in him all at once... and Catiline surprised everybody by doing the unthinkable - announcing his own emancipation from the family.  He detatched himself from all of it - relations, wealth, even home - to be with his brother.  After some reflection on the decision (which in all likelihood, probably surprised him as much as it did anyone else), Catiline began to piece together what he considered to be a plausible explanation for why he'd done it.
At the age of 29 he realized how very little he'd ever managed to accomplish... and though Laeca's feats were largely negative, at least he'd gone and done them.  The extreme idleness unsettled him, now... probably had been for a long time, but he'd been too caught up amidst it to notice.  Since then, Catiline's greatest desire has been to do something meaningful.  What he happens to be doing at the moment, however, only seems meaningful to him.  Throwing the rest of life by the wayside, Catiline is tirelessly devoting himself to his little brother... he follows him (mostly against his wishes), he watches out for him, he protects him if needbe.  Nothing is more important, nothing ever will be... sure, he can pick up secondary causes... but should he ever have to choose between them and Laeca, he would chose Laeca in a heartbeat.  Now utterly lacking in the complex family ties and social obligations that ruled his life for so long, their connection is all he has left, and caring for his brother is all that really drives him.
As Laeca's stunts grow more and more dangerous, so to do Catiline's measures for getting him out of trouble grow more and more drastic.  Laeca doesn't, and may never know exactly to what extents Catiline has already gone for him behind the scenes, or to what extents he will be willing to go in unforeseen future situations... however, it's safe to say that because of him, Catiline is now already deeply aware of what it's like to get his hands dirty.
Because of his overall lack-of-experience with the rougher sections of the world, Catiline tends to rely on intimidation much more than his brother does... he dresses simply, but sharply - dark suits or coats, well tailored.  People often mistake him for a government worker or a member of some mafia.  To add to this appearance, he never goes anywhere without his trusty laser-scythe, a little something he had cobbled together out of some materials his brother stole and collected over a period of time... and wasn't using.  Having absolutely no hand-to-hand style training of any sort, Catiline chose this weapon more for appearance than practicality... though if ever called upon to use it (which he has been before), he appreciates its particular design for the range advantage it gives him, and the blade's ability to cut just about anything.  The length of the staff is adjustable, its minimum length that of a single-handed weapon, though in this state it's even more unwieldy than usual.  The 'blades' at the top do not retract.

Skills:
-general sneakiness (blending into a crowd or surroundings, following someone covertly, etc.)
-riflery
-laser-scythe
-interrogation
-tracking... which works for pretty much anything that leaves a trail
-etiquette (the general understanding of how to be proper, PC, and so on)
-hacking (any PC is an open book, he's gotten rid of warrants and records on his brother before)
-mechanics... doesn't go very far beyond maintenance, but where his brother would rather steal a car and ditch it when it stops working, he's more practical and prefers to tinker around a bit

G.O.D.:
Catiline hitches a ride to Knossos with his brother Laeca... he doesn't personally interact with any G.O.D., though his brother got the Yarn Ball from Dionysus, which makes him technically responsible for Catiline's being there.

TWBII Mutations:
-Abilities: uncontrollable release of destructive energy based on emotion (usually manifests as bright gold waves of electricity or fire, very occasionally something more dangerous, like radiation and quite often something much more harmless, like plain old light), explosivity (pieces of him will explode on sudden impact with anything... he can cut off a finger, chuck it, and blow a hole in a wall if he really needs the hole that bad)
-Appearance: purple eyes which flare gold when his power activates, gold veins which flouresce when his power activates
-Personality:  volatility.  Catiline, trained all his life to be thoughtful and reserved, has been 'liberated' from this nature by the virus... his deepest, hidden emotions now reign free... even the smallest feeling is now incredibly exaggerated... he is literally unable to bottle up or hide anything anymore, even lying is very hard.  now that he is, in a matter of speaking, completely uncensored, his power, which is intimately tied with his emotions, practically runs rampant.

So just a small comment... I like the look of it and all, but is a laser scythe really the best weapon for him? I mean, especially if he has very little martial training, I'd think a double ended laser scythe would be a bit farther down the list of weapons I'd wanna use... Yanno... Cause I like my legs and arms... Also, does it shrink down or anything? Cause somehow I think he'd get weird looks just carrying a scythe around with him everywhere he went (believe me, I had a similar problem with a character of my own that had a giant tetsubo...). Just food for thought. otherwise, good job ^^
